Crossing Guards

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures the safety of pedestrians crossing rights-of-way en route to and from school property by
controlling and monitoring vehicular traffic in and around school property.
Effectively uses hand signals and traffic control equipment to control vehicular and pedestrian movements.
Reports violations of crossing and/or school zones to the Community Affairs Officer.
Reports disciplinary problems with students to appropriate school authorities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
 
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
High School diploma or GED Required.  Training in traffic control techniques preferred.
 
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
May be exposed to vehicle exhausts, toxic fumes, and hazardous materials.
Work environment is outdoors with a variety of adverse conditions, such as, heat, cold, wet, slippery, etc.
The nature of the position requires employees to project confidence, self-assurance, and a positive first impression.
