Please see our list of needed items. The Palmer School is run by the Salem Recreation Department. The Palmer School is located in North Salem, NH. You may register your child by coming to the Recreation Dept. located in the Town Hall on Geremonty Drive. Our office hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Call us at 890-2140 to schedule an appointment if you wish to visit the school and meet with the Palmer School staff. Welcome to the Town of Salem, NH website and thank you for viewing information on the Recreation Department's Palmer School programs. Palmer School Philosophy The Recreation Department staff at the Palmer School believes that each child is a unique individual with unlimited potential. Our program emphasizes what each child can do rather than what his/her limits might be. Each child will advance at his/her own developmental rate through a variety of activities which will focus on development of social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills. Children learn new concepts best when multi-sensory approaches are used. They need concepts repeated in a variety of situations to reinforce what they have learned and build upon that knowledge. With that in mind, the Palmer School has implemented two methods of teaching the children. First, the Salem Public Schools have been using McGraw-Hill Publishing Company for several years with positive results. Therefore, the Palmer School also uses McGraw-Hill as our main source of educational material for language arts, Everyday math and science. This helps lay a solid foundation for a successful year and successful transition into first grade and beyond. Second, we have computers at Palmer School. Students will have a structured but fun way of learning and reinforcing early reading, math and critical thinking skills. This will be a regular part of their weekly curriculum. When children realize what they can do, they feel good about themselves and the whole learning experience. To allow a child to grow to their fullest potential, it's our goal to enhance your child's self esteem and make learning fun. General Information The Palmer School tuition payment is payable on the first day every month with a total of nine monthly payments. A $50.00 non-refundable deposit is payable on registration day. Please call the Recreation Department for tuition fees and more information. Enrollment registration for Palmer School's 2008-2009 school year takes place at the Town Hall's Recreation Dept. on 33 Geremonty Drive.
