The Salem Fire Department operates 3 fire stations manned by a total of 13-15 personnel per shift. Line personnel work a 42 hour work week (2 days, 2 nights). The station locations and apparatus assignments are as follows:

The Salem Fire Department offers highly professional Advanced Life Support pre-hospital medicine to our residents and visitors. We operate 4 ambulances (two from Headquarters and one out of each district station) and 1 paramedic intercept vehicle (responding from Headquarters town-wide). We are authorized 9 paramedic positions within the Department. In addition, there are several fire officers that are paramedics and we maintain over a dozen EMT-Intermediates. Nearly all remaining personnel are certified at the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Level.

Our medical resource hospital is Parkland Medical Center in Derry. Our other receiving hospitals include the Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA; the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, MA; and the Merrimac Valley Hospital in Haverhill, MA.
