These functions include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Purchasing and Utility Billing. The Finance Department is responsible for development, preparation, and control of the Town's budget in conjunction with the Town Manager and the individual departments throughout the Town. The department is also in charge of accounting and financial reporting, investment of Town funds, purchasing of all Town goods and services, processing payroll, as well as water and sewer billing. The Utility Billing office provides personal interaction for utility payments. The residential window hours are 12:30 PM-5:00 PM, Monday-Friday and the phone number is (603) 890-2047. The commercial window hours are 8:30 AM-3:30 PM, Monday-Friday and the phone number is (603) 890-2042. Budget Comparison Utility Bill Explanation Utility Rates Effective October 1, 2007, the Board of Selectmen has approved an increase in the Sewer user rate. The Sewer user rate will increase from $2.60 per 100 cubic feet to $3.35 per 100 cubic feet. Effective October 24, 2007, the Board of Selectmen has approved an increase in the Water user rate. The Water user rate will increase from $2.58 per 100 cubic feet to $3.00 per 100 cubic feet. If you have any questions, please contact the Water Department at 890-2047. Purchasing The Purchasing Department of the Town of Salem, New Hampshire is responsible for the procurement of all goods and services required by all departments of the Town. The Purchasing Department provides prompt and professional attention to all departmental needs. Our mission is to provide advisory and consultative services in the areas of product studies, product evaluations, purchasing contract negotiations, bulk purchases, user/vendor mediation and training. We remain cognizant of the benefits to be gained by providing a purchasing system that is dynamic, responsive and efficient.
